Most people living in New Jersey or New York are familiar with the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. In recent years, the popularity of the region has created a demand for Pocono Mountain real estate. While the Pocono mountains still offer great vacation destinations, year around housing has grown significantly. Due to its excellent location and natural beauty, the Pocono Mountains have become one of the fastest growing areas in Pennsylvania.

I started taking my family camping in the area decades ago. On most camping trips, we’d also visit some Pocono vacation homes with the future in mind. Back then, there were few home styles to chose from. There was little attention given to energy conservation or modern convenience in most of those older homes. But all that has changed since the mid 1990′s with the addition of modern, energy efficient and low maintenance homes.

Today the selection of Pocono Mountain vacation homes includes some of the most beautiful homes you could image. The many private communities spread throughout the area offer a huge variety of vacation and year around homes. While in the old days, a vacation home meant ‘bare bones with no convenience or even insulation’, today’s vacation homes are built with the same standards and characteristics as the year around homes in the area. When you combine the fact that the Pocono Mountains are a relatively short drive from New Jersey and the New York City area, you begin to appreciate it’s wide appeal. Besides location, the Pocono mountain area offers quaint little towns, beautiful lakes and parks and the security of private communities for its visitors and residents.
