Every now and then I get the urge to take off for a hot destination near the beach, where I can read and swim and just take it easy.  In this economy, most of us are being a lot more careful about how we spend our money. From what I can tell hitting the road for distant places is not going to happen too much in the near future for a lot of us.  There are a few places with hot weather, hotels with pools, the beach and a few opportunities for saving a little money.

California is one place to consider, and if you’re looking for warmer weather you should think SoCal.  There are pushing 100 miles of great accessible beaches between San Diego to Malibu—dozens of places where you can lay out your towel.  One source for information and insider tips is the SoCal Vacation Guru, which talks about a lot of the beaches and other vacation opportunities.  I think you’ll find many tips and good advice that you won’t find at other sources.

For an international trip that is not too far away, consider a vacation to Mexico.  If you can find some Cancun travel deals, you’ll find that resort city to offer beautiful water, blue sky and many nice resorts.  The Hotel Zone has over 100 hotels, most of which have beach frontage.  The weather can actually be too hot in the middle of summer.

There are quite a few websites offering travel deals to fun warm-weather places throughout Mexico and other Caribbean countries.  There are quite a number of options in vacation destinations in that part of the world.  Take a look at other places such as Anguilla and Antigua.  Spend some time up front doing research so you learn about the culture and background of the place, and also to make sure you know enough to make smart and safe decisions during your trip.  I’m not sure how we made it before Google came along, but now it is possible to obtain an amazing amount of research information before you embark on your warm-weather vacation.
